Foodservice distributor Sysco Corp., Houston, Texas, (NYSE:SYY) has agreed to acquire Edward Don & Company, a distributor of foodservice equipment, supplies and disposables based in Chicago. Founded in 1921, the business generates $1.3 billion in annual revenue, servicing restaurant, foodservice and other customers across the U.S.

This acquisition will allow Sysco to add strategic capabilities and diversified offerings to complement its business and create a specialty Equipment and Supplies platform that will provide better selection and service to customers.
Edward Don has a distribution footprint with over 1.4 million square feet of distribution centers and office space.
The distributor will operate as a standalone specialty division within Sysco. In addition, Sysco expects to retain the leadership team, as well as current employees.
The acquisition is subject to regulatory approval and other customary closing conditions.
Sysco operates 334 distribution facilities worldwide and serves 725,000 customer locations. For fiscal year 2023 that ended July 1, 2023, the company generated sales of more than $76 billion.
