US Foods Holding Corp., one of the largest U.S. foodservice distributors, released its 2024 sustainability report, detailing progress in product responsibility, workforce development, and environmental impact reduction.
The report outlines updates across three key focus areas: products, people, and planet.
In its product category, US Foods reported over 5,000 differentiated items under its sustainable and well-being portfolio, including Serve Good and Progress Check products, which collectively generated $1 billion in annual revenue for the first time. The company also revised its seafood policy, expanded its Serve You product line, and added more offerings aligned with clean-label and plant-forward standards.
On the workforce front, the company reduced injury and accident rates by 19% compared to 2023 and delivered 70,000 individual development opportunities. Employee training totaled over one million hours. The company also restructured its employee resource groups to emphasize their role in business strategy and inclusion.
Environmental initiatives included a 16% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions since 2019, progress toward its 2032 goal of a 32.5% reduction. The company added 47 electric vehicles, implemented electric refrigeration units on trucks, and installed 65 fast-charging stations. It also mapped 96% of palm oil used in exclusive brands products to the mill level to better manage deforestation risks.
US Foods executive vice president Martha Ha noted the sustainability strategy’s alignment with broader business goals, stating the company remains focused on addressing “pressing challenges” to deliver long-term value.
