Warshauer Electric Supply has announced a leadership change as Jim Dunn, a 30-year veteran of the company, takes over as the top executive, succeeding Jim Warshauer, who will move into an advisory and consulting role. The transition marks a pivotal moment for the company as it continues to position itself for growth in the competitive electrical distribution sector.
Dunn, who previously served as executive vice president, has been instrumental in driving several key initiatives at Warshauer, including the development of Warshauer Tech, Warshauer Trade, and the company’s generator sales and service division. His leadership has been crucial in expanding the company’s reach and reinforcing its reputation for technical expertise and customer-centric services. Dunn holds an electrical engineering degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and is both a LEED accredited professional and a certified green professional (CGP).
Jim Warshauer, who founded the company and has led it for over four decades, will remain involved in the business as a strategic advisor. Under his stewardship, Warshauer Electric Supply grew to become a leading regional distributor with five locations and 180 employees. The company earned a formidable reputation for its technical services, sustainable energy solutions, and long-standing relationships with contractors, developers, and design professionals.
In May 2025, Warshauer Electric Supply was acquired by Rexel USA, marking the latest step in Rexel’s strategy to expand its national footprint through partnerships with high-performing distributors. Rexel highlighted Warshauer’s specialized service offerings, including custom-configured switchgear, energy retrofits, and green energy systems, as key components of the acquisition. The deal is expected to enhance Rexel’s ability to serve customers in the Northeast while continuing to foster Warshauer’s localized operating model and strong customer relationships.
Dunn, reflecting on the leadership transition, emphasized the company’s ongoing commitment to innovation and customer service. “We are excited about the future of Warshauer Electric Supply, and I look forward to continuing to build on the strong foundation that Jim Warshauer established over the past four decades,” Dunn said in a statement.
Warshauer, in his advisory role, will continue to support the company’s strategic direction, ensuring a seamless integration into Rexel’s broader portfolio. Rexel’s acquisition further strengthens its position in the electrical distribution market, especially as it continues to focus on sustainable technologies and service differentiation.
