The Producer Price Index rose 0.4% in September, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The index for final demand goods advanced 0.4%, while prices for final demand services also grew 0.4%, which accounts for about two-thirds of the increase in the index for final demand.

On an unadjusted basis, the index for final demand rose 8.5% for the 12 months ending in September.
Prices for processed goods rose 0.1% in September, while the index for unprocessed goods and prices for services both grew 0.3%. Prices for final demand energy increased by 0.7%. Prices for final demand goods less foods, energy and trade services advanced 0.4% in September, the largest rise since increasing 0.5% in May.
For the 12 months ended in September, the index for final demand less foods, energy and trade services moved up 5.6%.
