Border States, one of the largest electrical distributors, has entered a strategic partnership with Protective Equipment Testing Laboratory (PETL) to expand certified safety testing services for utility customers.
PETL, accredited by the Association of North American Independent Laboratories for protective equipment testing, specializes in dielectric testing that verifies the safety and reliability of electrical protective gear. The partnership allows Border States to offer customers faster, nationally accredited testing while maintaining compliance with industry standards.
“Our customers depend on us for safety and compliance,” said Jeff Stauffer, senior vice president for the utility core market at Border States. “By partnering with Protective Equipment Testing Laboratory, we’re bringing them the confidence of certified and accredited testing with faster turnaround and uncompromising quality.”
As part of the transition, Border States will close its test lab in Duluth, Minnesota, by Dec. 31.
Founded in 1993, PETL provides full-service testing for utilities and electrical contractors across the United States. Its accreditation ensures that protective equipment such as gloves, sleeves, and blankets meet federal safety requirements before being used in the field.
Border States, a 100% employee-owned company headquartered in Fargo, North Dakota, supplies products and services to construction, industrial, and utility markets. The distributor operates in 31states.
