Founder of 84 Lumber, Nemacolin Resort and Hardy World, Joseph A. Hardy III died at the age of 100 on Jan. 7, 2023. The influential businessman was known for founding and growing 84 Lumber into a billion-dollar company.

Hardy was a son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, veteran, student, graduate, pilot, gemologist, salesman, entrepreneur, commissioner, and philanthropist. He is survived by his eight children, 15 grandchildren and his wife Jodi Hardy.
