Year-to-date orders reached $3.74 billion, down 7.5% compared to the first 10 months of 2023.

Orders of manufacturing technology remain on a downward trend, indicating a normalization of order activity after a COVID-induced buying frenzy caused by increased demand and supply bottlenecks.

Orders for metalworking machinery decreased 14.5% from September 2024 and were 5.5% down from October 2023 orders.

Orders from contract machine shops pulled back on orders by nearly 30% in October, after significantly increasing purchases in September. This was likely due to factors including the U.S. presidential election and the Boeing machinists’ strike.

The number of units ordered from aerospace products and parts increased to the highest level since January 2022. This indicates aerospace manufacturers used the downtime to replace and expand technology used on production lines.
